September 25th: Compost and sustainability
October 16th, depending on weather: Garden clean up and harvest

This class is taught by educators from the USU Extension SNAP-ED program. Participants of this class will grow vegetables in local community gardens and attend monthly workshops taught by nutrition educators and horticulture specialists when available.

Children are encouraged to sign up who need some extra support with language and literacy. We use hands-on activities, including science experiments and building/creating projects, to work on skills needed for reading and writing. A brief assessment will be completed at the beginning and end of the group to measure progress and make recommendations for continuing to support literacy skills at home. Children should be able to write short sentences and read very simple stories to participate in this group.

This group is designed to help eliminate the negative stigma that exists in the Latino community regarding mental and emotional healthcare. Each week a clinical psychologist leads Latin@ individuals in processing their emotions and gaining mental health tools. The group is facilitated by the founder of Iniciativa Latina para el Bienestar Emocional (Latin@ Initiative for Emotional Wellbeing), an organization focused on providing quality mental health services and resources to Utah’s Latino/Immigrant community as they adapt to life in the United States.

Martial arts can instill confidence, promote focus and overall health, and teamwork. Chen Style Tai Chi is a form of martial art with the essence of spiraling movements. Students will be introduced to the art and will have the opportunity to learn a complete hand form. Students will develop Tai Chi in wooden sword form which will be provided during the semester by the Center. Classes will include warmups, forms teaching, and closing forms.

Children are encouraged to sign up who need some extra support with language and literacy. We use hands-on activities, including science experiments and building/creating projects, to work on skills needed for reading and writing. A brief assessment will be completed at the beginning and end of the group to measure progress and make recommendations for continuing to support literacy skills at home. Children should be able to write short sentences and read very simple stories to participate in this group.

This group is designed to help eliminate the negative stigma that exists in the Latino community regarding mental and emotional healthcare. Each week a clinical psychologist leads Latin@ individuals in processing their emotions and gaining mental health tools. The group is facilitated by the founder of Iniciativa Latina para el Bienestar Emocional (Latin@ Initiative for Emotional Wellbeing), an organization focused on providing quality mental health services and resources to Utah’s Latino/Immigrant community as they adapt to life in the United States.

This class is taught by educators from the USU Extension SNAP-ED program. Participants of this class will grow vegetables in local community gardens and attend monthly workshops taught by nutrition educators and horticulture specialists when available.

We use hands-on activities, including science experiments and building/creating projects, to work on skills needed for reading and writing. Children should be able to write short sentences and read very simple stories to participate in this group.

Each week a clinical psychologist leads Latin@ individuals in processing their emotions and gaining mental health tools. The group is facilitated by the founder of Iniciativa Latina para el Bienestar Emocional (Latin@ Initiative for Emotional Wellbeing), an organization focused on providing quality mental health services and resources to Utah’s Latino/Immigrant community as they adapt to life in the United States.

This group is designed to help eliminate the negative stigma that exists in the Latino community regarding mental and emotional healthcare. Each week a clinical psychologist leads Latin@ individuals in processing their emotions and gaining mental health tools. The group is facilitated by the founder of Iniciativa Latina para el Bienestar Emocional (Latin@ Initiative for Emotional Wellbeing), an organization focused on providing quality mental health services and resources to Utah’s Latino/Immigrant community as they adapt to life in the United States.

May 22nd: Planting and irrigation
June 26th: Weeding and fertilizer
July 17th: Meal planning and pest control
August 28th: Fall planting
September 25th: Compost and sustainability
October 16th, depending on weather: Garden clean up and harvest

This class is taught by educators from the USU Extension SNAP-ED program. Participants of this class will grow vegetables in local community gardens and attend monthly workshops taught by nutrition educators and horticulture specialists when available.

Martial arts can instill confidence, promote focus and overall health, and teamwork. Chen Style Tai Chi is a form of martial art with the essence of spiraling movements. Students will be introduced to the art and will have the opportunity to learn a complete hand form. Children should be able to write short sentences and read very simple stories to participate in this group.

Baile Folklórico is a style of dance from Mexico that combines folk and ballet dance styles. Students enjoy moving to music while having an enriching cultural experience. This class is taught in partnership with Preservando el Arte.
