Will my child ever be ready to move out?

Parents love their kids and want the best for them. It’s not surprising that many parents worry about their child’s future. One concern we hear time and time again is the fear that a child will never be able to have a full and independent life. This fear usually comes from a parent’s belief that their child doesn’t have the social skills or motivation to be successful. The resources below will help parents feel more hopeful about their child’s future.

Some kids feel anxious when they can’t be with their parents or caregiver. Other kids love spending time away from home. No matter your child’s attitude, it’s important that we prepare them for life on their own.

In this video, therapist Catherine Johnson teaches us how we can help kids feel safe to make independent choices.

Tune in to our conversation with LCSW Catherine Johnson to learn what you can do to be a support for your child but also give them the room to spread their wings.
