Just last week, United Way of Utah County was able to host its 32nd Day of Caring event. Each September, we organize scores of volunteer projects in partnership with many incredible nonprofit agencies and local schools across Utah County for Day of Caring. There are a wide variety of projects that get completed each Day of Caring, from playground painting and reading activities at local schools to renovating much-loved service agency buildings. Every few years, United Way of Utah County leads a community assessment to learn more about how things are going in our community. This assessment helps us identify our community strengths as well as challenges that need additional support to address. This effort, which is undertaken in partnership with exemplary agencies from across the county, is crucial to our community’s well-being. The end of a school year always has an air of excitement as children wrap up their classes, parents prepare for the summer ahead and plans are made for days of fun in the sun. United Way is working hard to support the children in our community, and we are so grateful for all the amazing teachers, school staff members and administrators for their hard work and dedication. The United Way of Utah County is expanding its services and resources into northern Utah Valley. The organization on Thursday celebrated the grand opening of its newest community center in American Fork, marking its third location in the county along with the existing Provo and Payson facilities. Here at United Way of Utah County, we’ve been so excited to see an increasing trend of corporate volunteerism in our community. Local businesses and organizations have always been passionate, dedicated partners in strengthening our community. Over the past years, though, it has been so inspiring to see many existing and new corporate partners become more engaged in volunteer efforts. From painting walls in a soon-to-be-open community center to service projects at local parks and reading activities at area schools, volunteers came out in droves during this year’s Day of Caring in Utah County. On Thursday, over 1,500 people from over 40 businesses and organizations throughout the county volunteered their time and efforts for the United Way of Utah County’s 31st annual event. The day aims to bring people from diverse backgrounds together to demonstrate care for the community through more than 70 projects countywide.
