Position Overview: As part of United Way’s work in creating lasting impact and change in Utah County, the Senior Director of Community Engagement will be a leader of volunteerism in Utah County. They will oversee United Way of Utah County’s volunteer-driven initiatives, including Sub for Santa, VITA, Day of Caring and Digital Inclusion, as well as United Way’s three community centers. Position Overview:
In this role, you will be the lead coordinator over Sub for Santa (peak season October through December, with next year planning through March), using both volunteers and staff to provide holiday assistance to families. This role is also one of the lead coordinators over of Day of Caring (peak season April through September) and provide opportunities for corporate volunteers to engage in building the community under the areas of impact: education, income and health. You may also provide logistical support to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) (November through April, with this role mostly supporting February through March), which is a free tax preparation service for low income individuals. Duties and Responsibilities
Sub for Santa Support (September – March):
● Operations: Provide operational support for the Sub for Santa program, ensuring the smooth flow of materials, communications, and tasks from September to January.
● Community Partner Support: You will be the main support for the various community partners and social workers
● Sub for Santa Database Management: Oversee the Sub for Santa database, ensuring all data is accurately entered and updated and working with our IT team to make updates.
● Supervise Sub for Santa Interns: Provide supervision and guidance for Sub for Santa interns during the program period, helping to manage their tasks and support their development.
Day of Caring (May – September):
● Non-profit/Agency Projects: Serve as the main point of contact for staff leads and project leads for Day of Caring projects related to non-profit/agency projects.
● Training Leadership: Lead Day of Caring volunteer training, preparing volunteers for their roles and ensuring they are equipped to serve effectively.

● Provide logistical support for the VITA program as needed, assisting with any operational needs during the tax filing season.

Key Responsibilities
Event Calendar Management
- Centralized Event Calendar: Maintain a comprehensive event calendar as a resource for internal stakeholders, keeping the team aligned on timelines, logistics, and promotions.
- Cross-Channel Promotion: Collaborate with Resource Development and other seasonal programs to help promote events across social media, email, and other channels. Include short event descriptions and CTAs for a consistent event marketing brand and message. Leverage audience profiles and data to influence event strategy.
Event Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Lead Events: Oversee planning and execution of significant events, including Tocqueville Society and Service Projects, Leadership Donor Events, Emerging Leaders gatherings, Day of Caring, and United Way office/program tours, Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings, and more as needed.

- Promotional Materials: Collaborate with senior staff and create a quarterly events budget to ensure promotional content and items align with event objectives across print, video, and digital.
- Social Media & Articles: Work with the Social Media and Brand Strategist (Danielle) to ensure engaging social media and article coverage before, during, and after events. Handoff priority event articles for monthly newsletter content.
- Promotional Item Management: Source, brand, and order event-related gifts, awards, and apparel in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Program Description: As an initiative of United Way of Utah County, Help Me Grow Utah is a free
statewide family information helpline designed to promote optimal development during pregnancy and
early childhood.
Help Me Grow Utah works closely with the Utah Integrated Developmental Screening project,
Celebrate the Stages, to expand the number of families completing the Ages and Stages
Questionnaire (ASQ) developmental screenings through providers in the community. We work to
coordinate across systems to share data on developmental screenings and provide stronger follow-up
for families to support their child’s development.
Position Description: As a key part of the team for this Celebrate the Stages Developmental
Screening Project, you will be engaged in the planning and implementation of a system that will
change the trajectory of children and families in Utah. You will be garnering support from many
sectors to educate and encourage developmental promotion and screening, linkage to services, and
supporting children at a very young age in their development. You will be involved in the sharing of
data that will encourage communities to support early childhood. You will be working alongside our
Help Me Grow Utah team and the Project Manager from the Office of Childcare to conduct outreach
to families, physicians, and community providers; offer trainings; and educate families to advocate for
their child’s developmental well-being. To support this exciting system, the Developmental Screening
Community Coordinator will be responsible for (1) collaborating on the development of a strategic
plan on how best to expand and support developmental screening across the state, (2) evaluating the
effectiveness of outreach activities over time, (3) building sustainable partnerships with other early
childhood partners, (4) facilitating trainings and offering continued support for those using the ASQ
tools, and (5) helping families support their child’s development.
Minimum Requirements:
Proficient English and Spanish verbal and written skills required
Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood, health promotion, or related field with one
year of experience
Community outreach, child development, systems building, or nonprofit experience

time training childcare providers, both virtually and in person, on using the ASQ developmental

Program Description: Parenting is incredibly tough, many moms and dads have questions and don’t know where to turn. United Way of Utah County brought Help Me Grow Utah to our state in an effort to support families and connect them to the information and resources they want. We do this by:
- offering developmental screening tools to assist parents in tracking early milestones
- linking families to information and community resources related to child development and parenting
- providing personalized virtual support
- creating and facilitating partnerships within the community to improve the availability and quality of services for families
- Being trained on the Sparkler App dashboard with the purpose of corresponding with parents, reviewing of screenings, and encouraging engagement
Position Description: The Bilingual Parent Support Specialist contributes to the goals of Help Me Grow Utah by addressing family strengths and concerns, referring families to existing community and informational resources related to child development, and problem solving to find alternative solutions as needed. They demonstrate knowledge and experience in family support services, including the ability to interpret developmental screenings and showing empathy toward a variety of family situations. They communicate with families, manage family records, conduct follow-up, and participate in other activities related to Help Me Grow Utah and United Way of Utah County.
Responsibilities:
- Primary focus will be to enroll families from across the state in the program through our over the phone intake process, this includes verifying demographic and contact information and most importantly listening to the family and identifying ways HMGU can support their current needs
- Respond in English and Spanish to calls, texts, and emails from parents, service providers, and health care providers who are in need of information and/or referrals to community resources for young children ages 0-8 years old
- Score screening tools, including the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (completed by parents) and give results to parents
- Address parents’ concerns about their child and recognize their current strengths
- Identify appropriate referrals and services that may benefit a family; communicate referrals to parents or appropriate agencies
- Follow-up with families via phone, text, mail and/or email in both English and Spanish
- Provide support on projects as needed, such as researching community resources, preparing for events, etc.

- Experience in child development, parenting, early childhood education, behavioral science, social service, social work, or related field
- Work experience involving parents or young children with or without special needs
- Valid Utah Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle for use during working hours (mileage reimbursable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to learn new software applications
- Proper telephone etiquette, including active listening and assessment skills
- Ability to manage many details and various bits of information at the same time
- Ability to make decisions independently as well as part of a team

Physical Activity: In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, walking, listening/speaking, writing and operating a personal computer. Descripción del puesto y responsabilidades: El pasante del SFCC trabajará estrechamente con el coordinador del sitio del SFCC para ayudar a los voluntarios que dirigen varios programas en el Centro. Estos programas consisten, entre otros, en actividades para niños (coro, danza, club de ciencias, club de lectura, ayuda con los deberes, codificación, arte, fútbol, alfabetización y clases particulares de música), actividades para adultos (inclusión digital, integración cultural, manualidades, ESL, Zumba, arte y cafés comunitarios mensuales) y una variedad de eventos especiales (feria de la salud, fiesta de Halloween, fiesta de Navidad, etc.).
Las responsabilidades incluyen:
