Resolving to make a difference

Exercise more, eat less, save money—sound familiar? According to, these are some of the most frequently made New Year’s resolutions. They are all great things, but for some reason I’ve found that when I make the same resolutions year after year, I get complacent. It’s harder for me to follow through. This year, I’m going to make a different kind of resolution—one that has benefits not just for me, but for my community. This year, I’m going to be an EveryDay Learner.

Welcome Baby Playgroup

Did you know that Utah has the highest birth rate in the nation, at almost 18 births per 1000 women of child bearing age, we take the cake by nearly 6 points above the national average. That's pretty impressive right? Well then, wait until you find out that Utah County boasts their birth rate of 23.2 births per 1000 women of child bearing age. Needless to say, we have a lot of children being born within our county.

Day of Caring 2014

This year's Day of Caring was my favorite yet! We had over a thousand volunteers for breakfast and service projects. Check out our video and photos from the day.

Remembering 9/11 Through A Day of Caring

The 13th anniversary of the September 11 attacks will soon be here. This day is a great opportunity to commemorate the service provided by firefighters, police officers, and ordinary citizens at the towers that day.

Make Connection Happen! (And get free stuff :) )

On September 20th, you have the opportunity to volunteer to help make connections happen!

Come play in the street this Saturday

Free Kolaches! Free fun! Free family time!

This Saturday in Provo, UVU and the Downtown Provo Alliance (in partnership with others) proudly present the chance to play in the road: a family event called Play Street Provo.

Hip Hip Hooray! Cheers to you!

I love celebrating the 4th of July with my family and friends.  This year, I decided to run the 10k Freedom Run.  During miles 2 through 4.5 we ran down University Avenue, and Center Street where just an hour later the Freedom Festival Parade would be.  The streets were lined with people who were securing their spots for the parade to start. As we ran down the road, music was blasting and people were cheering us on.  As I approached the finish line, cheerleaders were there once again and this time I heard my name as my friends hoorayed my accomplishment as I crossed the finish line.

Play time: What’s the Big deal?

Play is the way babies find out about themselves and the world around them.  When babies play they use all five senses to learn about the new things around them, especially in the first year! Babies are always asking questions about the world like, “What does this feel like when I touch it?”
